Ark Encounter Louisville and Nashville

 Intro

Experience the Bible like never before! Come face-to-face with Genesis @ the Creation Museum, and see the life-sized replica of Noah's Ark. Watch Kentucky Derby Thoroughbreds at Churchill Downs, follow the bourbon trail, and head to Nashville, for a backstage tour and evening performance @ the Grand Ole Opry.
Day 1 - Arrive in Cinncinati
Arrive in Cincinnati, where midwestern friendliness meets southern charm. Tonight we will enjoy a welcome dinner and meet our fellow travelers. At dinner, we will discuss the exciting itinerary planned for the days to come.

Day 2 -  Creation Museum & National Underground RR Freedom Center

After breakfast, we will depart our hotel for the Creation Museum where  Biblical History comes to life in this state-of-the-art museum. We will experience the thrill of walking through more than 150 displays of religious history, stunning exhibits of dinosaurs, botanical gardens, and more. A lunch voucher is included. 

From Slavery to Freedom @ Nation Underground RR Freedom Center

This afternoon, we will visit the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in downtown Cincinnati. This amazing museum sits on the Ohio River that once acted as a barrier for those seeking freedom from the American South. On our self-guided tour, we will see displays and exhibits that tell the story of the history of slavery and the Underground Railroad. Returning to our hotel, we will freshen up for dinner, don't miss your chance to try world-famous Cincinnati chili.

Day 3 - Cincinnati - Ark Encounter - Louisville 

After breakfast, we say goodbye to Cincinnati and head to the Ark Encounter which is everything you can imagine and more. This amazing edifice is over 50 feet tall, 510 feet long, and 80 feet wide! It is a full-size replica of Noah’s Ark, built according to the dimensions given in the Bible. This modern engineering marvel makes you wonder how Noah built it!

Here we will take a self-guided tour and see everything from live animals and beautiful gardens to the jaw-dropping exhibits inside the Ark. On this journey, you will experience Biblical times like never before! A lunch voucher is provided.  In the afternoon we leave The Ark and head to Louisville where we will check into our hotel and have dinner.

Day  4 - Louisville - Kentucky Derby Museum - Churchill Downs - Bourbon Tasting

A museum like no other... 

Louisville is Kentucky's largest city that sits on the mighty Ohio River that brought us Muhammad Ali, the Louisville Slugger, and the Kentucky Derby. After breakfast, we will 
head to the Kentucky Derby Museum, the exclusive tour provider for Churchill Downs. At 9 a.m. we will start our day rail side at Churchill Downs to watch Thoroughbred horses and their jockeys train right in front of you as they gallop at speeds of 40 miles per hour around the track! Be sure to have your camera ready – seeing these incredible athletes working out beneath the historic Twin Spires™ is a memory you’ll want to hold onto forever.

Afterward, we will tour the two levels of the Kentucky Derby Museum which has interactive permanent and temporary exhibits as well as artifacts that date to 1875. Another highlight is the 360-degree immersive sound and visual experience, "The Greatest Race," that immerses viewers in the magic of the Derby. We will have lunch at the Derby Cafe and Bourbon Bar at the Museum. 

After lunch, we will visit the Evan Williams Bourbon Distillery, an official stop on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. We will take a historical tour in the speakeasy style complete with stories and samples from this award-winning distillery. 

We end the day with a one-hour walking tour of historic Old Louisville, (https://www.oldlouisville.org/guided-toursThis amazing neighborhood has the largest contiguous collection of Victorian mansions in the country. Walk past impressive Victorian homes, once owned by wealthy families from the bourbon, tobacco, and racetrack industries, and learn about their history. You also stop at several points of interest including the Witches' Tree, Conrad's Castle, the Filson Historical Society, and Central Park. 

Dinner is on your own in Old Louisville whose leafy streets are lined with restaurants from upscale farm-to-table spots to casual BBQ places and craft breweries.

Day 5 - Louisville to Nashville

Learn why Nashville is called the Athens of the South
This morning after breakfast, we say goodbye to Louisville and head to Nashville, the capital of country music. After checking into our hotel, we have the afternoon free to explore Nashville.  Take a stroll down Broadway, known as Honky Tonk Highway, and visit the Johnny Cash Museum in the heart of downtown.  A little bit out of town is a full-scale replica of the Parthenon set majestically in Centennial Park. Here you will see direct cast plaster replicas of Parthenon marbles that have adorned the Athenian Parthenon since 438 B.C. right here in Nashville. We will meet back at the hotel and have dinner together to discuss all the wonders of Nashville that we have discovered.

Day 6 - Nashville - Grand Ole Opry and Country Music Hall of Fame 

Grand Ole Opry - the heart of country music in America

After breakfast this morning we will depart for a backstage tour of the Grand Ole Opry. On this behind-the-scenes tour, we will walk in the footsteps of hundreds of country music performers. We will see their dressing rooms,  see priceless archival footage, and learn interesting tidbits along the way. The highlight of the tour is walking out on stage and standing in the famous wooden circle. Our next stop is at the Country Music Hall of Fame located in downtown Nashville. Nicknamed the "Smithsonian" of Country Music, we will go on a self-guided tour of this amazing museum. Lunch and the rest of the day are on your own to enjoy the pleasures of Nashville. Tonight we meet for dinner before our show at the Grand Ole Opry.

Day 7 - Depart Nashville
Today we say goodbye to Nashville and head home.
